"I've been having intermittent starting problems. Usually starts on the second pull, runs fine, but shut it down and sometimes it won't start again. I pulled a plug and checked the spark, there was none. I gave it several pulls and finally got spark."
 
Check the sparks with a spark

Check the sparks with a spark tester if possible. Improvise if necessary. Sparks should jump 7/16".

Good sparks on tester but not on plugs then fit new plugs.
Current recommendation QL77JC4 gapped at 0.030"

If not restarting and no spark after running OK check kill switch.

"When testing, pull the black/yellow lead out from power-pack, or disconnect the stop-circuit round cable (tiller model).
That will eliminate a defunct stop switch."

"I took the boat out on the river and it ran fine. I shut it down and it would start again with no trouble. I got it home and it wouldn't start. I disconnected the two gray wires to the kill button, still no start. I pulled a plug and wired it up to check for spark, no spark."
