I inherited a 40c outboard from mariner (when they were owned by yamaha) attached to a 1969 MGF Gypsy. I cleaned up the boat and completely restored it!..... then it died. So... lets begin.
Took the boat in and got the fuel lines all cleaned, carbs cleaned etc. Put some sea foam in it too. Since then when accelerating the boat died. Looked back and saw a kink in the fuel line, so i unkinked it and then ran the boat, but realized the primer ball no longer gets really firm. The boat starts and runs no issue at half speed or lower, when I put it at full throttle, the boat kind of takes a bit of time until it actually reaches full speed. When it reaches full speed and i try to slow down, it stalls out. If I slow down really gradually (painfully slow and hard to do because my throttle is really stiff) it actually does not die.
When on the muffs, i have no issues at all. I can floor it and then to back to neutral right away and it does not die.
Any ideas?????
