1984 30hp remote start suddenly stopped working

My 30HP evinrude a 1984 (i think) was working fine then suddenly the key start gets no response when I turn the key. I thought I heard a faint buzz a couple of times but otherwise nothing at all. I charged the battery and checked the ignition switch. The odd thing with the ignition switch is that with the key in the off position I am getting 13 volts across 5 of the 6 terminals. How can that be?

Could this be a bad starter solenoid?

Check fuse next to solenoid on engine. Good luck. Is throttle control shifter in neutral?

I have bypassed the shift interlock switch and checked the fuse. Finally took it to a mechanic today so when I get a reply I will try to remember to post the solution here.

Let me wipe the egg off my face. Dirty battery terminals! They looked fine.......
