"Ok, So my poor boat (1983
"Ok, So my poor boat (1983 16' Ebbtide fish/ski with a 1984 Mariner 150 O/B) has been in my in-laws yard for 5 years...2000 miles away...I finally brought it home and have it in the garage trying to bring it back to seaworthiness. So I popped the lids on the engine and took my air gun to it to clean out all the leafs, grass, cobwebs, etc....upon doing so, I notice a red wire who's insulation is being blown clean off by my air gun...not good. The wire is obviously all corroded. I'm trying to figure out what it's leading to and I find it leads to this black box at the front of the motor which has a silicone type filling. The Black box is about 2" x 3" x 1" and has three wires coming out of it: Red (which is the corroded one), White with black stripe, and Black. Can anyone tell me what this part is/what it does? I obviously need to replace it (along with several other things on the boat)."
