Hello Mariner Experts,
I am new here seeking a few answers from the experts out there.

I recently acquired a boat that has a 1983 Mariner 115. After sitting for a number of years, I started the process of trying to get it back on the water.
I am running into a spark issue. The #1 cylinder is the only one getting fire out of 6 cylinders. Not sure why and wanted to see if I could source some knowledge from you guys. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks.

83 should be ADI

It is an ADI motor. I have read a few different threads with spark issues on these motors and they all talk about disconnecting the bias switch and tilt switch? Not sure if this is an option. I was hoping you guys may have a checklist of things to go through before I start replacing switchboxes and stators! Thanks for the replies.

Do a " no money spent "---inspection of the starter . battery cables , load test the battery.----------Slow cranking can be the cause of poor / no spark condition.----------Starter is easy to take apart for inspection , don't rush out and buy a new one.

Load tested the battery and it is good. Do not think slow cranking is an issue. It turns it over pretty good. I have the motor trimmed all the way up with a transom saver on it while I am doing the testing. Could this be a problem with the tilt switch? The trim is not currently working and never thought it would be a problem until reading a few threads about tilt switches. Thoughts?

1. Disconnect the tilt switch, throw it away, and tape the black/ white wire going to it.

2. See if you have ignition on the rest.

3. Get back to us.

Thanks for the replies @fastjeff and @racerone. Did all that was suggested and still no spark. OHM tested the stator, trigger and coil packs and they all were in range of where they needed to be. Went ahead and replaced the switchboxes and BOOM, I had spark to all cylinders. Thanks again for all the help to get her running. I will be starting a new thread because I have come across other issues that I need help with since I have been able to get it running.
