"I am trying to help out a friend with a 1983 Mariner 60E, this was mfg'd by Yamaha, so I am unsure if this is the right forum. The engine will run, but mostly just on one cylinder. Compression on both is 155 psi. I cleaned the carbs. I have the flywheel off. I don't have a manual. Can any one tell me how to test the stator and or the pick-ups. It appears to have a a stator that only runs to the CDI, and another one that runs to the rectifier and so on. The owner told me that the CDI had been replaced previously. I really don't want to invest in some manuals, as I am doing this as a favor. So if anyone has any advice it will be greatly appreciated. thank you."
