I use my boat every week. I started noticing a slight miss in motor. I change the plugs and wires since they were very old. when I started the motor again with they ears on it ran ok. I put it in gear 1/4 way and my carbs started leaking badly I also noticed black sludge coming out of my prop.Could I have blown some type of seal by putting in gear not in river but with ears on HELP!!!!

" I don't know what size outboard you have, but if your carbs are flooding, your needles, seats, and floats are not working properly. Raw fuel is getting dumped down your exhaust system and loosening built up carbon/sludge and sending it down the leg and out of the prop. I think I'd get some carb kits and freshen-up the carbs making sure that the floats are set at the proper level. I use a float level gauge made by OMC for this purpose. Another posibility is a hole in the pulse diaphram of your fuel pump wich would send raw fuel directly into the intake manifold - when you tilt up, the fuel may run out the front of the motor. "
