1983 Johnson 9.9 running problems

I have a 1983 Johnson 9.9. It runs and idles fine and works great in a barrel or with muffs. When I launch the boat and I put it in gear to go I have to keep it about half choke to keep it running at full throttle. It has probably about half power when at full throttle. I have replaced coils, plugs, pulse pump, fuel hose, primer bulb, tank vent ,and rebuilt carb. Figured it was running lean so tried to tune but when richen the fuel ratio it stalls out. Any ideas what it could be?

Sounds like it is running on 1 cylinder.----Test the spark.-------It must jump a gap of 3/8" or more.--And did you have the carburetor apart to clean it ?---------Having to use the choke indicates fuel delivery issues.

Or - you could have an obstruction in your high-speed jet. East to fix by pulling and cleaning the carb's internals.

CMOS

But does the spark jump a gap of 3/8" or more.----------When motor is running what happens when you pull plug wires off one at a time ??

Model # of the 2000 Johnson 9.9 is needed.----Start a new thread with details of what happened to your motor and what the motor is doing.
