1983 Johnson 70 hp intermitant spark

Gentlemen,
I have ohm probed my motor and the two wire lead from the flywheel (brown and brown/yellow) show no ohms. Is this from the timer base or the stator? Thanks

I have the OMC manual but the wire diagram shows "stator and timer base" without offering which of the wires comes from eash component. CDI has a wire color listing that shows brown and brown/yellow is the stator wiring so that sems the problem

The wires that move are the timer base. The wires that are static are the stator.
