When attempting to replace my water pump I found the black spacer tube that slips over the drive shaft was melted in spots that required me to cut it to get it off the drive shaft. Do I need to replace this spacer tube or is it unnecessary? It slips into the top of the water pump and then into a recessed hole up toward the powerhead. If I need to replace it Where can I get one. This motor is a bit of a robomotor I got it for free in pieces collected from behind a friends shop but it has given me a few good years of service and I'd like to get it going again. I can find no model number anywhere on the motor or mounting bracket. I think it is a long shaft (or is does that mean standard for this motor?)but I don't believe it is an extra long shaft as there is no extender section before the lower unit. I think the spacer tube was about 9 1/2 inches long.
