This is the first outboard that I have owned. So 2 problems and I am not sure if they are related. It starts and idles fine, but when I give it a little throttle it dies out. I pull back the throttle and idles fine then give it gas and it dies out again. I pulled off the cowlings and on the port side of the engine, there are three 90 degree fittings that look like they come out of each of the combustion chambers on the cylinders. They have black 1/8-1/4" plastic hoses coming out of them. I noticed that one hose came off the fitting and as I revved up the engine, snapping/popping noises and a little flame or backfire was coming out of the fitting. Then I did a little more troubleshooting and another hose popped off and had the same snapping/popping issue. Has anyone ever seen this before or have any ideas on how to repair? The engine has been sitting for about 2 years by the way.
