I need some help.
I have a 19

I need some help.
I have a 1982 mariner 3 cylinder It starts and runs fine when I have the ears on it out of the water but when we put it in the water it will start and throttle up but when you bring it back and put it in gear to go forward it always dies goes know were.
Any suggestions.

PS: You MIGHT have stuck rings and get away with running an OB engine cleaner through it. Worth a try.

"pull the side cover off, which ever is easier. Have a look at the cyl, that will tell you how bad things are.
You have no compression because the engine was ran with a clogged carb jet. No gas means no oil, sorry. Thats why we check compression first."
