"Forgive the stupid question, but is this a VRO engine? I thought it was, but looking through the OMC parts catalog I do not see a VRO unit. If this is not a VRO how does it mix the oil with the fuel?"

VRO did not come out till 84.

"Standing in back of your engine, facing the spark plugs, on the port (left) side of the engine you will see two (2) fuel pumps. This was the norm with the Evinrude and Johnson V6 engines from 1976 to 1983.

In 1984, the VRO setup came into existence and those two fuel pumps were replaced by one larger black plastic VRO pump, located in that same general area.

As London above states, the engine (if not equipped with a VRO) should use the 50/1 fuel/oil mixture.... 1 pint of TCW-III 50/1 oil to 6 gallons of gasoline.
