1982 Johnson 150 stored for 3 years need advice

I am new to this so please excuse any stupid questions. Just purchased an 83 Angler 21' with an 1982 Johnson 150 V6 (J150TXCNM). The previous owner had it in storage for 3 years. The only thing he did was pour some oil in the cylinders through the spark plug openings prior to storing (not sure exactly how much oil).

What would you advise me to do to the engine before attmepting to start and use?

From reading I have gathered I shoud replace at minimum water pump, thermostat and spark plugs, decarb cylinders and clean carbs. What else should I do? Should I rebuild carbs? What products should I use? Where is a good place to buy what I need? Any and all advice and insight is much appreciated..."
 
"Remove spark plugs and crank

"Remove spark plugs and crank the engine over to blow out whatever may still be in the cylinders. With all the spark plugs removed, check the compression (what is it?), then check the spark which should jump a 7/16" gap with a strong blue lightning like flame... a real SNAP!

Remove, clean, and rebuild the carburetors. Check the gearlube, best to refill with fresh lube (HiVis).

Use Champion QL77JC4 plugs, gapped at .040 . Use a 50/1 fuel/oil mixture.

Parts will be available at any Evinrude or Johnson dealership.... and many parts such as carburetor kits etc will be available at any NAPA store."

I appreciate the response. I have a few more questions regarding products for the job. What do you recommend to clean the carbs with? The kits at NAPA are they standard or should I look for a specific product? What product do you recommend for decarbing, lubing the control cables and steering components? Any gaskets/seals that you would recommend replacing while I am doing the above work? Thanks!
