1982 Evinrude 90HP storing for winter require proper engine position

Hello,

I am storing my 1982 Evinrude 90hp engine. I will remove the bottom gear oil and drop in some fuel treatment into the fuel tank. I will also remove the plugs and spray in the treatment spray and replace the plugs. Was wondering if the enigne should rest in the upright position on the bracket or completely down. We live in Canada where the temperature drops severely thoroughout the winter months. I am thinking it maybe easier on the hydraulic pump if it was in the down position. I haven't had trouble leaving the gear case without gear oil but have heard it should be drained and refilled.

your guidance would be appreciated

Thanks

Troy

Drain the gear oil and check for water in it.-----If there is water then the gearcase needs to be resealed.------Never leave a gearcase sitting with no oil in it !!!!------Store the motor in the normal running position ( down )
