What is the best operating rpm for a 1982 Evinrude 115 outboard engine?
 
if you read the tag on the tr

if you read the tag on the transom clamp it should tell you the operating range of your engine. all 4's and 6's ive seen from 1969-early 90's say 4500-5500rpm. my manuals say to prop it out so they run in the upper part of this range. personally i run mine at 5500-5600rpm all day and have never had any problems. also my engines are 25 years old and have never been rebuilt as they were family owned since new.
