1982 302STHRCNC 3L

Hello. I acquired a project boat with an OMC 3L Model 302STHRCNC. The PO had removed the coil the last time he tried to service it but replaced it. On West Marine I found 18-5437 - Ignition Coil but required an exterior resistor. Is there an alternative that has an internal resistor? 1

Coils are very specific to the distributer. I have a 1976 Ford 302 and went with the Pentronix electronic distributer model D231800 and their Flamethrower 2 coil, which eliminated the need for the ballust resistor, and of course, gapping the points. I get great spark with iridium plugs.
I am not sure if there is a coil like that or not. I have that coil, if you want it.
