1981 Baretta with MCM 470 inboard wont start

I have been messing with the wiring for about a week now and cannot figure out for the life of me why I can not get the motor to start or even crank at that. Can someone please help me out in any way. Even if it is with the complete wiring diagram for the motor and all of the components. Thank you and greatly appreciated.

The battery is brand new. the cables have slight corrosion on them but the rest of the boat is getting power just wont turn over. The guy that I bought the boat from said that he had to hot wire it or jump the wire to start it to make sure it still started but the odd thing is I could have sworn that there was a + cable going to the starter but there is not one on mine. Again I really appreciate any help or suggestions that I can get
 
its got to have a cable on it .follow the cable on the starter back to the solenoid ,from there is goes back to the battery
 
there are two cables on the starter. One is the ground from the battery to the starter and the other is yellow from the solenoid to the starter but there is no power coming from that wire. the red cable goes from the battery to the solenoid though.
 
using jumper cables, jump the red to the yellow ,that should spin the starter .if it does jump the small solenoid lugs next
 
The red to the yellow cranked the starter now I did the two little posts on the solenoid and there was nothing. was I supposed to do little post to little post? or try both little posts to the yellow cable individually?
 
Is the boat in neutral? Try to spin the prop and see if it is. Check your ground cables and clean all corrosion off connections.
 
You need a wiring diagram and confirm all wires are present and connected correctly.

Can you read a wiring diagram?

If so I will post a diagram.

Ok now it is turning over but I am not getting any spark at the distributor. Wow this is getting to be a pain. LOL wish I could just get it up and running.
