I have 1981 25 hp that I need

I have 1981 25 hp that I need new gears for bottom end. Have found a complete set of gears from a 1976 20hp and want to know if they will work as I cannot physically compare them.have looked at parts catalogs and can not find diagrams for 20 hp models. There are different parts numbers for 25 hp between 76 and 81 but the fellow says they are the same gears as his 79 which means they should fit. Hope someone can answer this quick question. If they do not fit what years and models will fit.

Assuming OMC, go to www.evinrude.com, select engine diagrams and use the navigator to display both models. If the gear part numbers are the same, then they are interchangeable."
 
I can not find any reference m

I can not find any reference material for a 2ohp Johnson. Is it the same as the 25 hp or the 15 and 9.9 hp. I found a complete gear set from the 76 20 hp and want to know if it will fit. what other years interchange- someone must know some of the common years
