"Hard to start (but eventu

"Hard to start (but eventually does so) when cold or even after being stopped for an hour or so (in raised position). Runs OK, although occasionally misses at high rev. This can be alleviated if I squeeze primer (fuel line) bulb. I changed the needle float valve in carb.
Susppect: Starting: wrong fuel level in float chamber. How do you check this? Not enough pressure from primer to fill float chamber. Blocked? How do you test?
Missing problem: fuel pump (diaphragm in carb). How do you test?
Would appreciate any advice, thanks,
John"

"Test compression, then check for CRANKCASE compression, Then check the strength of the spark ( needs to jump a gap of 7/16" ).Check the point gap if so equipped."
