1980 johnson outboard 15hp charge an sensor coil replacement

My name is Charles .I have some questions about about how you set the charge coil an sensor .In the service manual it says to use a setting ring.I was hopeing you could tell me how to get one or may be you could tell me another way to do it.thank very much
 

I am pretty sure it is the same you will notice on the front of the bosses there is a little notch you hold a straight edge so the coil and trigger is flush with the outer edge of the bosses that will give you the proper air gap to the flywheel magnets.

To align the coils properly, have the metal vertical portion of the coil yokes aligned with the inside edge of the bevel that exists on the top portion of the aluminum seat upon which the coils sit. This creates the proper distance between the coils and the flywheel magnets. Faulty alignment creates friction and the yokes of the coils heat up, turn blue and expand.
