"i bought a boat with a bad motor looks like a aq125 motor.not sure if its a car motor or a boat motor .can i use a volvo 2.3l motor from a car ,i know i would need to use a marine starter and distributor and alternator."

why would the cam need to be changed? how can i tell it the cam in the old engine is a marine cam? thanks.

This has to do with intake/exhaust over-lap or seperation. The issue is reversion and the likihood of an exhaust valve allowing water into a cylinder at low RPM.
Best to use the marine camshaft along with the other marine items!
