1980 25 Evinrude

Cannot figure it out wont run 25 evinrude changed head gaskets 120 lbs compression both cyl no carbon on pistons, cylinders look great, great spark, good carberator draft , reeds clean, spark advance ok, will fire slightly on gas squirted in carb, but will fire off on starting fluid what possibly could cause motor not to run any suggestions thanks much

DO NOT use ether as it has no lubricating qualities. Use premixed fuel/oil.

I suspect that the carburetor is fouled, if so, when cleaning.... clean carefully the high speed jet that's located horizontally in the bottom center portion of the float chamber with a piece of single strand steel wire as solvent just doesn't do that job properly.

What is your starting procedure? Is the engine a electric start model? Model number?

Have not hooked up fuel hose as of now been spinning motor with a large drill motor and squirt fuel in carb if it would fire off would hook up fuel to carb it will not fire off with gas everything indicates it should run, compression, spark, good draf to carb and reeds ok, no obstruction in exhaust ?? but will fire on with a shot on starting fluid, indicating spark ? thanks

Check flywheel key.
