hey all i just got a 1980 i th

hey all i just got a 1980 i think from the best i can tell givin to me and it has a 120 4cyl way back in 04 we had a flood and the boat got water in it up over the spark arrester and we know what that means yep oilpan full of water. what is the best and cheapest way to get that gravy out of the engine i dont want to invest alot in this puppy untill i hear her run the guy who gave it to me said all was fine prior to the flood and i believe him but i need to get the gravy out first

yea... well the cylinders are now all rusty too.. unfortuneately have to pull the engine and dissasemble. Or you can drain into bilge via the plug (depending on bilge design) then run some "Engine Cleaner" through it.. if the engine turns over..
 
Brian just to update ya i drai

Brian just to update ya i drained the gravey and filled it with engine cleaner.and decided to pull the valve pan to see if it was all thru the motor and to my suprise it wasnt so i put some fooging oil in the cylinders and let it sleep on it. the next day i took some old ignition parts i had left from the 470 pertronics swap. point wires condencer and put a battery to her and she cranked about four times and fired .well i shut her down after about 5 min and drained the pan and filled with oil and new filter and a friend stopped by and said get another one and i said ah just a toy and he said ill give ya 500 for her just the way it sits and down the road she went. so the moral of the story is i learned how to clean one and made 450 doing it lol
