"I recently was given a 18'
"I recently was given a 18' campion 305 omc with the white 800 sterndrive. Lots of engine work has been done including newly rebuilt carb. The boat when I first got it would fire up and run good until the choke opened up and would die. We tracked it down to the fuel pump and after I put a "automotive" pump in, which I learned was bad, it now runs perfect. I'm wondering if anyone can help me find or point to what the marine pump would be for this engine. The model number is 990253S1. The manual is really old and weathered and someone wrote may 1981 at the top and the trailer is a 1979. Not sure if older trailer sold with it or what but Im hoping its the same pump for both years boats. Maybe a dumb question by why not use the automotive one? I see my original had 3 lines off of it, one in from fuel tank, one out to carb and then on the other side of the fuel pump diaphram theres another outlet that runs up to the otherside of the carb with a transparent yellow line. What exactly is the point of this line would be awsome to know if anyone can shed some light on it for me. Debating on just teeing the third line on the automotive pump back to the tank and getting on the water
Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated"
