Are you sure it's a 454???? OMC didn't start using the 454 until 1990 which was the last year for the 460. 1979 Stringer couldn't handle big block power???

Bob, I don't think that OMC ever used a 454 ??. 460 with the King Cobra yes and that was only for 2yrs.

Sorry to disagree with you but the 460 was used for 4 yrs, starting in 87 through 90. In 1990 OMC offered both the 7.4 and 7.5, also in 90 was the first year that OMC started using the cone clutch with those 2 engines and after 90 they dropped the 460 and used the 454 from 91 right up to 98.
