1979 Johnson 75 horse

I had my engine running then it abruptly shut down. I am not only getting very faint spark. Any ideas? I’m new to outboards so all help will be great.

Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" ( 1 cm ) on each lead ?----Best to test at night and not in broad daylight.

I was using the lights that plug in on top of plugs.

How do I test that?

Glue 2 pieces of wire on plywood or carboard.----A 3/8" gap beteen them.-----One end in plug boot.---Other end clipped to engine block.

Not getting anything from that.

Just go to your local automotive store and buy one ---About $10.

I have the inline ignition testers on it now and am getting little to no spark.

`Then repair your ignition system as needed.----Replace the stator first.
