"just got it. first boat/motor

"just got it. first boat/motor. won't run well. idles a little while, coughs hard a few times, then stalls. starts again fine, but coughs hard and dies. cleaned the carb very well. prevoius owner rewired it. I need a wiring diagram to make sure all is well. there is a black wire coming from the base of one of the coils that goes to nothing. where should it go ?"
 
may be running lean at idle...

may be running lean at idle...turn idle screw to left one turn..factory service manual has diagrams..blk wire prob would go to kill sw.

"after messing with it a while, I think it is the fuel pump. how does it operate. looks like maybe it uses pressure from the cylinder to pump ?"

"also, I have a regulator/rectifier that is wired to nothing. the wires screw to the plastic terminal block, but there are no wire coming from the stator. The stator has only 4 wires going to the CDI. Is it possible someone replaced the stator with another year or something ? should it run ok but maybe not charge my battery ?"
