Howdy every one, this is my first post here so I'm sorry for any mistakes!
I just bought a 1999 Alumacraft 16' with a 1979 Johnson 35 seahorse last weekend, so I am a total rookie with boats.
When I purchased the boat, the man started the motor right up (its electric start only). It turned over instantly and ran fine when we test drove it. Last week I took it out and ran it for about an hour no problems. Then today, I take it to the river to do some fishing, took about 2 minutes to get started, but I didn't think much of it. I drive it for awhile and when its just at idle it starts to slow down and eventually dies. It started up just fine after it would die. But as the day went on, when I would cut the motor or it would die, it would become increasingly difficult to restart. At the end of the day it wouldn't turn over at all and we had to paddle back to the dock.
It has been sitting in my driveway for about 3 hours now and still won't turn over. Im just a poor college kid so I'm hoping it won't be an expensive fix, but i have heard what BOAT stands for...
