"I have a 1979 evinrude 35 hp

"I have a 1979 evinrude 35 hp that starts fine, idles fine (maybe a little slow) but won't rev up at all. It will run at maybe 1/3 speed until it warms up and almost like someone through a switch it revs up and runs full speed. After that it will run fine for the rest of the day. It's been doing this for awhile but seems to have to be taking longer to start running good.
Any ideas. Thanks."

I would suspect a fuel supply problem, but it is possible that you are running on one cylinder due to an ignition problem.

Make sure that when you squeeze the primer, fuel does get into the carb. If it does, note if the ball gets firm, and that no fuel is leaking out of the vent or throttle bore. Inspect all fuel lines and connections for signs of leaks. Check the screen in the fuel pump.

Check the spark. It should be able to jump a gap at least 7/16 in.
