I was on my way off the lake the other nite and was pulling a buddies boat behind me to the landing we were almost to the landing and I let the rope go from him took off across the lake when I opened mine up it was as if my clutch was slipping I'd let off and it would grab again any idea what's up I'm not really a boat guy so new to this, thanks

Sounds like you have a "spun" prop hub; put a mark with a sharpie on hub and prop then run it till you feel the slip. If the marks don't line up it's time for a trip to prop shop for a re-hub or just get a new prop. Good luck

Yes, it could still move until you really give it some power and then the rubber hub starts to slip. This will only get worse until eventually it will slip all the time. Mark it and test it as described above and replace it soon so you don't get stranded out there. There is no way to visually test this, you must load test it or just take it to a prop shop or replace it. There really isn't a clutch internally in your motor that can slip unless there is some major damage. It would almost for sure be your prop.

I haven't taken it to the lake yet but pulled the prop off and looked at it the splines look good is that what would be bad is the splines on the prop?

The splines have nothing to do with the " slipping " at all.---Your prop is an assembly and it is not a solid item.----There is a rubber drive hub in there ( you can not see it ) and that is what may be slipping.

Yea as I'm looking into it online I'm figuring that's what happened and I got a recommendation of a local shop who can fix it. Thanks for the help hopefully ill be back on the water by next weekend
