1979 evenrude kill sw circuit

Bought a boat & motor and the kill switch had been removed. Considering replaceing but need confirmation on the switch circuit. (Open or closed)
Looks like a completed circuit that the switch breaks to the coil ground when activated?

Anyone have a complete diagram of this circuit?

What's the horsepower?

79 Evinrude would have a normally open switch. It closes when pressed to ground the ignition to kill the engine.

I suggest replacing it with a lanyard type switch for safety.

HP =15, really looking for points of of connection.

I don't have the diagram of a 15 hp.

Near the coils there is a rubber wire connector.

The black w/yellow wire runs to the "grounding switch".

The other lead from the stop switch runs to ground.

This is normally connected to the middle coils bolt, but any good ground will do.

The switch is open when running, connects to ground when pushed.

Thanks for the info. I figured it would use a N.O. switch but wasn't sure which wire to use with it. Motor shows several crimps in the area so had no idea what the guy had done.

If the motor currently doesn't have a kill switch, the aforementioned wire would not be connected.
