1979 chysler 99 leaking gas into water

"my chysler 9.9 is leaking gas through the lower unit while its running. any ideas what could cause this, motor is running good. any help would be greatly appreciated"

"It probably isn't running

"It probably isn't running as good as it should if it is leaking fuel out the lower unit, however some of leaking is somewhat normal for 2 stroke motors. It is simply unburnt fuel most likely cause by poor ignition of the fuel from either poor spark, poor compression, or poor air/fuel mixture. If it is truly running well you may not want to mess with it."
