"I just got a 1979 6hp Evinrude model# 6904E. The question I have is that it can be locked in the down position, but it doesn't have a way to lock it in the up position, for transport, am I missing something or is that the way it was built? Any suggestions on a simple way to hold the motor up while transporting boat? Thanks."

"Do you transport your boat on a trailer? If you transport on a trailer there is a bar you can buy that attaches to the trailer and pushes the outboard up and out while transporting. If you have an adjustable trim plate on your outboard you can also make a holder that will latch to your tilt latch and push it out from the transom. I'm sorry I don't know the proper name of the part. If you give me an email address, I'll send you a picture of what I have.
