1979 35 hp johnson

Quite good when it left the factory.----Some 40 years later you need to inspect it , if you are looking to purchase one.

They had a problem if ran in Florida's weedy lakes. Weeds would obstruct the water inlet holes and motor would overheat. In later years the inlets were moved to the sides of the gearcase and they became excellent motors

That's right, Gator, I have a parts motor in my shop and I think that's what happened, the impeller is good. Some lakes up here in MN are getting nasty too.

If it checks out, I think you will like it. I have a 1978 and it's my go to motor on my micro skiff unless I want to go really shallow. Same power pack and other parts that are very common in other motors so parts are plentiful and cheap. Lower unit seals are a breeze to replace compare to some of the smaller motors. It is also a gas sipper as far as these old motors are concerned (not sure why). Just took it last week on a solo camping trip to everglades 1000 islands. So you can say I trust it!
