I recieved this motor and bolted it to a boat of mine, I gave it a new water pump and gear oil aswell as a coat of paint. It fires up and runs great on the hose and muffs. But today (maden voyage) its started fine and then when I pulled away it just wouldnt accelerate at all. I had the the controll lever hard down at one stage and It just sat at just over idle - maybe 3 Knots tops. Lifted the cover and found throttle controls and carbs to be all opening and operating fine.

Any ideas?"

Discovered what it was by myself in the end.

The electric choke control solenoid wasnt operating properly. The little piston that slides back and forth when you press the key in to open and close the chockes was gummed up and not moving. As it turned out the piston siezed up when the chockes were half open so when I tried to accelerate out on the water nothing happened. She roars now, got my baby up to 55mph on very rough water and strong head winds. Cant wait to try her out on the glassy smooth lake this w/e :)
