1978 Mercury 80hp - spark help

So I got this motor and it only had spark on cyls 1 and 2. So I got a new trigger and that restored spark on all 4 cyls. It would run on the muffs or bucket like that, but put it in the water under load and it died as fast as I could put it into gear. Since the stator yellow wires were hanging by a thread, I went ahead and replaced the stator. Now I am back to only having spark on 1 and 2 again. The stator wires are hooked up correctly. I tried swapping the trigger 2 and 3 to see if I could induce spark at 3, but to no avail. That was how I originally diagnosed the bad trigger when the spark moved to 3. Not sure what the heck is going on....

I tested the blue/blue-white stator wires with my ohmmeter and got 2.25 Kohm. Clymer manual says it should be 5.7-8.0 Kohm. The red/red-white ohmed out at 52 ohm where the manual states 56-76. Should I look any further, or just return this stator?

I think I was able to repair the yellow wires on my old stator. I cut off the wires about an inch out from the stator body and found some decent wire there. I soldered up some new leads on them and it ohms out at 1 ohm, so it seems pretty good. I put it back on and it restored the spark to 3 and 4. However, I notice that the spark on #3 is intermittent compared to the others. After troubleshooting all the parts involved, I have traced the intermittent spark problem to the switch box.
