"Is there an easy way to test a fuel pump?

It seems that my motor is not getting gas unless I pump the bulb.

I've replaced the gas line, and now i'm thinking of replacing the tank. Any ideas?

Additionally, how much should I expect to pay for replacement/repair?

Thanks in advance."

"it sounds like you do have a bad fuel pump, or a dirty carb.

have you made sure you have no leaks when you squeeze the primer?

cleaning/rebuilding the carbs and/or fuel pump are fairly easy procedures.

one of my buds opted to take his ob in to a shop on some probs we couldnt solve(before i found this site) and i think they charged him close to 90$ an hour.
buying a book and listening to the advice on this site will save you a lot of money.

good luck!"

"I'm pretty sure there are no leaks in the lines, and the tank seems to be holding pressure.

I'll start with purchasing a manual.

Thanks for the advice!"

"You can do a test of this fue

"You can do a test of this fuel pump by taking out the two screws that hold it to the block, then without the gasket, use two nuts to hold the pump together. Squeeze the primer bulb, after the float bowl fills, you should get the pimer bulb to pump up without a leak from the backside of the pump. If you find gas leaking from the back of the pump this means it's got hole in something somewhere in the pump."
