thr water pump impeller on min

thr water pump impeller on mine and i think most other is in the lower unit. '79 115

if you are referring to the shift linkage its a little tucked under the motor.

look where your cable hooks up and follow the linkage down there should be a bolt with a flat tip screw driver in it also.

"Thanks, that will be my next

"Thanks, that will be my next step. So after removing this screw and the 4 bolts on the lower unit this will allow the lower unit to be removed? Once i get the unit off I think I will be ok."

there should be 6 bolts holdin

there should be 6 bolts holding the lower unit on and one of them is under the trim tab #67 on the diagram and one right in front of it

make sure when you put the wp

make sure when you put the wp in put a little vasaline on the impeller. to help the dry start. i read that somewhere.

and make sure the water pick up tube goes back into the top of the water pump.

careful when you pull her loose shes heavier than you think

when i put mine back together

when i put mine back together i geter started and reach up in there with a screw driver and help guide them together.

and i usually take my prop off sorry i guess i could have mentioned that earlier

Second what David has said. I

Second what David has said. I just replaced mine. Be sure to center the bore of the water pump housing with the drive save so the seals are evenly loaded. The impeller is ecentric in the housing and tries to force the housing off center.
There is a rubber o-ring at the base of the drive shaft splines. This may offer resistance during assembly and you may think something is stuck.
Don't put any grease on the top of the drive shaft (above the splines)
What ever you do DO NOT bend the shift rod. Don't grab it or lay it against any thing. They are very expensive.

"I need a starter or starter p
