1978 Johnson 6hp no spark

1978 Johnson outboard was running fine, now has no spark. How can I test the power pack? It also has an ignition sensor under the flywheel. On an ohm meter should this switch be normally open or closed to resistance? any ideas? Thanks!

The sensor is NOT a switch.---It is a coil.-----What reading does your meter show?

I had it on 2000. it read 37. I was trying to see it was open. i was using a multi-tester.

The wires leading out form the armature plate are known to break internally, causing intermittent or no fire.

The best way is to test the stator and trigger with a DVA adaptor if they test good then it is the PP or the coils. You can test the coils with a ohm meter there is no test for the PP if everything else tests good the PP is bad.
