Hello Everyone,
New to the Forum but have been buying parts here for a long time. I joined because this motor has me seriously stumped. I have rebuilt many many outboard carbs in my day but this one by far has me scratching my head. No matter what I do the bottom carb overflows fuel. I can pump the primer bulb, I hear fuel flowing into the bottom carb, the bulb gets hard and then after about 30 seconds fuel starts over flowing out of the two overflow outlets in the carb throat, the two that are side by side. I rebuilt both carbs using Genuine Johnson/ Evinrude kits that came with new floats. The float is adjusted properly. I have gone as far as to try the old float as well as the old one that came out of the top carb. I have also tried the old needle and seat and I get the same result. I have also inspected the carb body closely for anything that doesn't look normal, like cracks, etc. I have even taken the carb while at the bench and tested the float by having carb right side up and blowing air into the bowl via a hose, then turning the carb upside down (float closed) and I can not blow any air into the bowl.
