Im new here and would like to know the forums veiws on a 1978 80 Hp Mercury long shaft. The compression in all four is 125 PSI. This motor seems clean and doesnt apear to have been abused. No distributor on this one for once.
I also have a 1969 650 that I have run on a 15' bowrider tri-hull. I'm going to put the 80 on it this weekend. The 65 netted me 32 mph with a 15P prop and 30 with a 13P large diameter prop. I have a new 15P large diameter that I will run first time out and also a 17P. Any guess-timates on the performance I may expect.
