1978 50hp throttle not wide open

ive got a 1978 50 hp thunderb

ive got a 1978 50 hp thunderbolt 3 cylinder and runs/idles great but when the throttle is fully engaged in forward and fast idle is off im barely making 10mph. it goes faster in reverse! didnt know if there was a throttle linkage sticking somewhere or what. any help would be appreciated thanks

"this usually is something other than a linkage problem. With the engine off, you can open the throttle till it stops and look down the carbs, they should be wide open or very close to it. I would guess you need to check compression, spark on all cyls and then remove and clean the carbs if its not to late"
