1978 500 flywheel nut size

Hi,

I'm getting ready to remove the flywheel on my 1978 Mercury 500, to replace the trigger. I need to buy the correct size socket though, some online searching leads me to believe I need a 1.5 inch socket for the crankshaft nut? Haven't found anyone mentioning my model specifically though. Can anyone verify?

I think it's 15/16.

I think you're right. After measuring the puller tool I bought it's obvious that it must be around 15/16. Thanks for the help.
