1977 OMC 175hp electrical problems

I had to pull the engine of my 1977 17.5ft Campion boat with a Ford 302 V8 175hp engine with an OMC sterndrive. No problems with pulling the engine and getting the motor back into the boat. I am able to start the engine and have it run like it did before, the only problem is that when I try to tilt the motor down it engages the forward gear and the prop spins. When i try to tilt the motor up, nothing happens. When I try and pop it into drive (forward) it tilts the motor down, and when i pop it into reverse, nothing happens. I know this might sound like I have my tilt and shift cables crossed but the shift cables are connected to the shift cables of the leg and the tilt cables (green and blue) are also connected properly, which leads me to believe that there are some wires crossed somewhere down the line, but I have no idea where, anyone have any suggestions about what could be the problem. and where the two sets of wires could've got crossed?

nevermind, i figured the problem out on my own, the two yellow electrical connectors (right above the tilt solenoids) were joined together upside down, I didnt know there was a specific way to join them together, the two arrows must meet on both connectors. and also the same for the black connectors too. but those were already connected properly by accident.

i dont know for sure , im a new boat owner but i think that you are not supposed to raise or lower your omc sterndrive while its running ....ever. hopefully one of the veterans can comment on this subject before you break something
