Can I use a cooler thermostat than the current 160 degree being used?

Thanks for your reply. I have installed new impellar in outdrive, taken off ex. manifold(clean, no restrictions) and installed new 160 degree thermostat, new exchanger, but still runs hot. Would a cooler thermostat hurt anything?

If the cooling system is correct, there shouldn't be a need for a colder t-stat. Even tho you have replaced the impeller and heat ex changer, something is still incorrect. I would recommend more troubleshooting of the coolant system.

What exactly do you mean, " still runs hot"?
