I just picked up a 77 Johnson 35 that I’m trying to get running. I did a full carb rebuild and clean. Then I put in a new head gasket which bumped compression up to 90. Still low but at least it’s even across cylinders.
I noticed the flywheel was moving the entire magneto assembly so I adjusted the coil to make sure it wasn’t making contact with the flywheel. The flywheel key seemed fine to me. The throttle roller lifts off the plate right at the two ridges like it should.
I’m getting spark on both plugs, fuel is flowing through the carb and into cylinder. I can’t get the dang thing to fire though. Even with starting fluid. I can occasionally get a backfire but that’s it. I’ve swapped the plugs around a few times so I know that’s not it. I’m about out of ideas if anyone could help
