On chevy blocks any matching automotive starter will work so I would assume that any matching ford starter would work also, It just has to match up.

Marine starters are slightly different than automotive as far as coast gard regulations on spark suppression guidelines so be careful.

I personally have purchase rebuilt automotive starters from auto parts stores for chevy marine engines, BUT I know how to make then marine compliant!!! If you can accomplish this then you can do it also if not you are taking full responsibilty if something goes wrong.

Just trying to make you aware and understand the potential consequences."

"Most are standard rotation, Using inboards as an example, if the starter is mounted to the engine then a standard engine takes a standard starter, IF the starter is mounted to the bell housing, than a standard motor uses a reverse rotation starter.
If yours is engine mounted and has the firing order above , you need a standard rotation starter, for the number of teeth count the old one."
