Hi. I have a 85 hp model numbe

Hi. I have a 85 hp model number 85799 and wondered if anyone has the head gasket update sheet available from way back when. I have just bought this old engine and I cannot remember for the life of me what years the update covered or what HP. ?? The head gaskets haven't been touched at all on this old girl. Does anyone have the answer on this one?

"Thanks, I appreciate your help. I did find what I was looking for. I may just leave it as is. The 1977 85hp had a piston design which caused the top ring to break. The top ring was higher up on the piston, and the design was changed in 1978. Now, that's from memory...it's been ten years since I worked on an outboard. I think I'll take a chance and instead of sinking any cash into this unit especially the powerhead, I'll have fun and wait until something breaks. ! I may get lucky, one never knows. I do thank you for your help."
