Im getting one click when i turn key. I have cleaned terminals and all connections on battery, solenoid and starter. when I jump the two larger screws on solenoid or when I jump pos from battery to starter I only get sparks. The motor was under water this spring but i dried it to what I thought was good enough started it and let it run for 15 min. It has sat in garage until saturday. Could the inside of the starter have gotten rust in it? Any ideas?

My guess would be starter motor problems.

If the starter was not taken apart it rusted solid.-------Can you put a wrench on the nut and turn it ?

oh yea, looks great on the outside. no sign of rust on outer parts at all.

Maybe I missed this but was the motor in fresh or salt water ??

Guys I took the starter apart it was completely full of water oil lake sediment. I'm no mechanic but think I've found my problem. I'll let you all know. Thanks much for
all advice. Btw it was freshwater

FELLAS I AM AS HAPPY AS FAT TIC ON A SKINNY DOG. Thanks EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP. JUST GOT AROUND TO PUTTING STARTER BACK ON AFTER COMPLETLEY DISASSEMBLUNG AND CLEANING IT AND ALL CONTACTS. IT FIRED UP ON FIRST TURN OF KEY. Thanks again everyone.
